Sydney Pritchard

I was born and raised in Williams Lake. After attending University, traveling and much contemplation I decided to follow my passion and sign up for school to become a massage therapist. The human body has always interested me and I finally found a career that allows me to apply my interest to my work. Two grueling years later I graduated from VCMT. It was one of the best experiences I have ever had. It was the first time in my life I was able to work towards something I loved, with a group of like-minded individuals. My teachers promoted overall health, encouraging us to solve the problem instead of looking for short term answers. I believe that in order to function at an optimal level, healthy lifestyle choices and education are key. The courses I’ve taken since then have given me some amazing tools for assessment, treatment and prevention. Some of these courses include yoga therapy, barefoot training, sacral and facet treatment and infant massage. My main interest lies with the relationship between musculoskeletal injuries and the nervous system, and I tend to lean towards deep tissue massage, but am proficient in relaxation as well. I take a multidisciplinary approach to my practice, and to my own health, and I look forward to helping you achieve your goals.

Sonya Pitcairn

After nearly two decades of experience teaching yoga and personal training, I finally decided to expand my knowledge to become a Registered Massage Therapist in 2021, graduating with honours from VCMT. I am currently working on completing all levels of Cranial Sacral Therapy which I hope to bring into my massage practice in the near future. I will continue to seek more knowledge to better myself and evolve as a therapist

I enjoy helping clients feel good in their own bodies and will often give homecare exercises for their specific concerns to help them feel empowered and an active participant in their healing journey.

The style of massage I have developed has a meditative flowing quality to it with the intention to make the transition from one treatment technique to the next feel as seamless as possible. I enjoy the ability of being creative with my treatments as I see massage therapy as an artform. I incorporate myofascial release, trigger point release work when necessary, joint play and gentle joint mobilizations when indicated, assisted and passive stretching, static pressure techniques and of course, Swedish massage techniques into a relaxing and effective treatment.

Outside of work, my passion has always been for world travel. My adventurous spirit has taken me to many beautiful places such as Central and South America, India, Asia and Scandinavia. At home, I love being in nature, gardening, swimming in the ocean, hiking in the forest, yoga and spending time with my 2 beautiful daughters and my three legged black cat named Erik Odin.
